When ‘The Shield’ started casting, Johnson auditioned for the role of ill-fated Terry Crowley but he didn’t get that role. Series creator Shawn Ryan was very much impressed with his audition so he intentionally created the role of Lem for Johnson.

Role on ‘The Shield’

Kenneth Johnson appeared as Detective Curtis “Lemonhead” Lemansky on ‘The Shield’. A very little light is thrown on his personal life during the show. In the first season, he developed a relationship with Tigre Orozco. In the fifth season, it was shown that his parents were trailer trash. His family was very poor, so poor that Team Strike had to post his bail after he was arrested by Internal Affairs. He’s the point man for the Strike Team and is the moral compass of the team. Making him eligible for recruitment was the guarantee by his good friend detective Shane Vendrell. Throughout the run of ‘The Shield’, Detective Curtis “Lemonhead” Lemansky appeared as a good natured detective.
