CCH Pounder took birth in Georgetown, Guyana. Her mother is named Betsy Enid Arnella and father is known as Ronald Urlington Pounder. She received her education in England. In 1970, CCH Pounder moved to USA . She made her acting debut in ‘All That Jazz’, a 1979 film.
Pounder made appearance in the movie Bagdad Café and has several other movie credits on her part. Her main interest is in TV world so she primarily focuses on her television career. In 1980s, Pounder made guest appearance on Hill Street Blues. Her next appearances were on ‘Miami Vice’, ‘L.A. Law’, ‘The X-Files’, ‘Living Single’ and ‘Quantum Leap’ etc.

She also gave her voice to several video games and animated projects. Most notable among those are ‘Aladdin and the King of Thieves’, “True Crime: Streets of LA”, Gargoyles as Desdemona and Coldfire, and Justice League Unlimited as Amanda Waller.
CCH Pounder is married to Boubacar Kone , a Senegalese anthropologist. He is the founder of The Boribana Museum in Dakar.

CCH Pounder appears as Claudette Wyms on ‘The Shield’. She’s the captain of the Los Angeles Police Department. Her marriage life has not been very good and the lady has divorced twice. She has two daughters, namely Bonnie and Rebecca. She has been with the department for approximately 25 years and is one of the very few female African American officers. She has a strong part to play on ‘The Shield’ and the lady performs her job nicely.
